Sitting here on top of the world with you,
We watch the flash of rainbow lights go by;
Breathe in and smell the summer rain and funnel cakes;
Watching children run and laugh and play,
All the way down there, like little living dolls.
We are not yet grown up, love,
But we are no longer young like them.
We are from the world in between;
Shifting, changing, constantly growing into ourselves.
As we wait for the night to fall and for our descent,
I wish that you would hold me close,
The way you did when we were small;
Because when the lights go out and the shops shut down,
This world is closed, we can't go back.
